QTip: How to shop like a Man

Man vs Woman when it comes to shopping......

Man vs Woman when it comes to shopping......

Face it, guys sucks or at best average in buying clothes that looks good and fit well and like the map of a shopping mall posted here, we men tend to ‘go for the kill’ and never really look at other possibilities or options available out there on improving or trying out new stuff besides the t-shirt and jeans. (Admit-tingly I am one of them too)

Here are some tips to take advantage of the latest Malaysian 2009 Megasale when you are out and about:

  1. Plan on what you want to get or a look that you want to achieve and list down the items (hat, shoe, shirts, etc) or better yet cut out the pictures for reference (I use my iPhone to take photos of clothing items that looks interesting to try out)
  2. Set a budget so that you don’t have a messed up credit card debt at the end of the day. Sales can be crazy when you are on a roll.
  3. Get a woman, especially someone who dresses well / stylish,  to go with you and they be more than willing if you just ask for some help. Face it guys, they are trained to do this way longer than you so their experience nature really helps in picking up the right clothes for you at the fraction of the time spent and the money saved from making bad choices.
  4. Always go on a weekday and if possible avoid the weekends to the mall. Generally its less crowded and sales people are more free and able to give you better service and assistance over the weekday.
  5. If you can’t get a gal pal to shop with you, ask the shop sales person to assist. They are being paid to help you so just be honest with them up front with what you want and their recommendation on what fits you and not their commission, also be blunt if its coming from the On Sales rack. Remember they are being paid to do this.
  6. Don’t discount discount shops like Factory Outlet or Reject Shop, although its more of a challenge to find the gems among the crap, you’ll be surprise you can get branded stuff like CK, Ed Hardy and Modern Amusement for up to 90% of their retail price due to minor defects or factory overruns. Nice.

Happy shopping!
